Thursdays Workouts 6/11/2009

kicked buttWell another Thursday and another two great workouts this morning and I kicked butt. Two words can describe toady’s events and they are grueling and awesome. I was in good form today and my workouts went better than expected. I did step the cardio up a bit and that went real well. I did increase the level a bit and even though it slowed down my pave it also boosted up the heart-rate were I want it to be and that’s between 149 and 160. I am a bit sore and tired but that’s nothing new and it’s to be expected. I am just glad that it went so well and I think a lot of it has to do with my frame of mind and my determination to achieve  my goals. I am doing and feeling great and I really do believe that it plays an important part in your routine. If your not happy or feeling blahish then to me your workouts won’t be that great. We all have days like that though and I know it can’t be helped. I am just enjoying this great feeling  now and hope to carry  and remember this feeling when I am not up to par.

Now to the workouts. :-)

For Cardio I did:

  • 30 minutes Elliptical Trainer @ 2.11 miles, Level 17 & 18, Average Speed 4.08 mph, 646 calories burned.
  • 35 minutes Stationary Bike @ 9.47 miles, Level 13, 85-90 rpm and 350  calories burned.

So that was 65 minutes @ 996 Calories gone for good :-)

I think what really helped with the bike is that I was kind of biking with someone else next to me and we were talking a bit.  I find that it helps with the time and we were also a bit into a little competition which always drives we harder. I usually don’t talk to anyone at the gym and I tend to keep to myself most of the time.  I guess that is the introvert part of me. Well I am really trying to change that and when this person started talking to me I saw it as a opportunity to shed my skin and be more of an extrovert. I am just glad that it didn’t affect my workout and I felt that if anything it really helped enhanced it. It just felt good putting myself out there and to be a bit more social to some degree. As long as it doesn’t affect what I do and what I want to accomplish there than I am cool with that.

Then from my cardio it was time for me to workout the legs with Chris.

For that part of the routine we did, 4 sets with 15-20 reps/set

  • 2 legged Leg Press
  • Step Ups with dumbbells
  • 1 legged Leg Press
  • Hamstring Curls
  • Calf Raises
  • Laps around Track

So by the time that was over I was a bit exhausted, sore and tired. Like I said though it was well worth it and provided me with an awesome sense of accomplishment.

Now it’s time for me to chill a bit before I head off to bed. The week-end is over :-(

Catch you all later…

Stay healthy and Stay fit….

  • Rob – Nice workout. Stepping outside your ‘usual’ introverted self and being more social is a great thing! And you did it as a totally conscious, aware effort. Way to go! It seems that was at least as big a deal as the workout….understandably.

I am suffering DOMS horribly today. With a smile on my face.

Keep at it and enjoy while it is enjoyable. :)

    • Thanks… hope you are or did enjoy your trip off the island. :-) I am liking the new me and feeling really better than ever. Hope the feeling stays around for a bit. It’s still an adjustment, but one the I am willing to work with.
Rnjoy the week-end. I am sure you’ll make the most of it.

  • One sentence you wrote that says it all… your workout was “grueling and awesome”… THAT is when you know you have the motivation necessary to succeed, congrats on staying focused and beasting it out! ;)

    • Thanks man. I so appreciate the encouragement. It really does help me move forward and work harder. The accountability really does help as well. I could easily give up, but knowing that there are some awesome people out there, really is my driving force. I really do love hard workouts.
By the way thanks for the response to my comment. I didn’t want to come across in a negative way about addiction, especially referring it to being healthy. I’m glad that you took it in a positive way. :)

      • Dude, no worries! The word “addiction” has negative connotations, but how I feel about getting in shape is just as passionate now as how I felt about any video game I’ve ever played ;)

        • You truly are passionate about this new life style and your results really show it. hope your enjoying your week-end. From what I have seen your one energetic man with all your biking. Have you ever thought about doing triathlons. I think it’s something you would do well at. :-)

  • Another day of great workouts! I also find it easier to walk when I have someone to talk to, but I don’t always have that privilege. I also hope you can live off your present feelings when you aren’t having such a good day. It is too bad we can’t bottle that, huh?

    • I don’t either but boy to I enjoy the times when I do. I seem to work harder and the time flies by. It makes working out a lot easier, at least for me. I hope to find a way to bottle this feeling up, even it’s only through words. I wonder what the going price is $$$. Then again if it would help someone else out I’d gladly give it away.

  • It’s a good sore, though! I love that feeling that reminds me that I’ve worked hard… Great job!
