Well again i am running late and I will make this brief. I need to hurry up post, get something to eat and then get ready for bed. All to be done in less than 2 hours. I did get to the gym today for both my cardio and strength training routines.
First was the cardio and boy was it a disappointment. I just wasn’t up to par and now that I look upon it I guess I should have tried to push myself more. It’s just that the legs would perform like I wanted them to. So all I got in was 1 hour of cardio and it went like this:
- 60 minutes Treadmill @ 3.4o miles, Incline 11% for 8 minutes & 13% for 2 minutes (repeated 3 times) then 5% for 8 minutes and 7% for 2 minutes (repeated 3 times) & 1105 calories burned.
I had to reduce the incline because of two things.
- My legs were extremely tired and jelly like.
- My right foot was starting to hurt.
So to prevent any serious damage or discomfort I reduce it a bit. Not happy with that because now I feel that I should have just toughed it out and kept going like I have been these past two days.
Once I was done there is was time to meet up with Chris for the other part of my training. Again we worked on the TRX Suspension training and worked the chest and back. Tomorrow we will be working the legs
It went better than yesterday and it’s probably because I was more comfortable with it.
With this system we did some chest presses, 1 & 2 Arm pulls, Planks, Standing rows and of course we increased the laps to 2 after each set. I am sure we did more with the TRX but I can’t remember at this point.
Now I am off to bed and hoping that tomorrows training will go better than todays. I am sure it will. I just have to continue to stay focused and positive.
Again thanks everyone for stopping by and commenting. You all are an awesome bunch of people.
Take care and have a great week-end.

Rob – It is what you did, not what you did not do, that counts! You did an hour of cardio…no small feat. Plus you maintained a change in behaviour, a habit and signifier of a healthy lifestyle. That is huge! Rest well, stay with the moment.

Again that it a very wise statement. Sometime I have a way of not realizing that I am doing the right thing and my thinking is changing for the betterment of my new lifestyle.
Thanks again for the great insight you bring in my life and mind. Mucho appreciated.

I agree with Paul and Vegas – you need to listen to your body. Don’t risk an injury. BTW, great workout!

I’t’s something that I know I have to learn more about. Since this really intense workouts are something I am new at it’s hard for me at times to tell the difference between pain and discomfort. Maybe I just was being a bit over thinking it and making more out of it as a way of talking myself into being easy on myself and not pushing harder. I hope that makes sense. By thae way Thanks agian and always for your encouragement. It continues to be a great motivator.

good job rob! 1 hour is great and…you should listen to your body. You did the right thing. Pain is an indicator to take a break. If you were to try and work through the pain, it could make the pain worse and lead to a potential injury. Have a productive weekend and keep up the good work!

Thanks again Man! Sometime I just wonder if it’s real pain or just some discomfort from pushing myself harder. Since I am still fairly new to this active lifestyle it’s sometimes hard to tell the two apart. Even though I do know what “Real” pain is. I just didn’t want to overdo it were I wouldn’t want to get back at right away because of soreness. If any of this makes sense.

An hour of cardio is a workout. I bet you can remember the day when the thought of an hour of cardio would make you break out in hives!
Sometimes we just have to listen to our bodies. If your body says slow down, it’s generally a good idea. Part of the problem of being/having been overweight is we don’t trust our physical cues. We really should, I believe our bodies never lied to us, we lied to them.

Thanks.. that cracked me up
You are right thought there was a point and time in my life that exercise was a bad and non existent word in my life. So I am blessed that I am at least doing and trying this hard to achieve my goals. It’s hard to listen to your body at times. It’s another thing we have to make an adjustment to when it comes to this new lifestyle. It’s all about lrarning and realization that we are at time not perfect and need to let outr bodies rest some so it can catch up to what we are putting it through.
You really do have some great insight there.
