Another Workout Cardio and TRX 7/11/2009

Another busy day for me as well with 2 workouts done after work this morning.

First I met up with Chris for part 1. This was the strength training part using the TRX suspension again. Today was also leg day so i knew I was in for a workout. All together we basically did a variety of squats and lunges with running a lap in between sets. Towards the end my legs felt like jello which meant that to me I worked hard at it. All which is a good thing.

I also used my new watch/heart rate monitor to calculater the HR and calories. For this part 1 workout I burned 852 calories. Not to bad for a leg workout.

Then from there is onto my cardio and boy today I really didn’t want to do it. I usually get my cardio done first and then do my leg work, but today my appointment with Chris was early so I had to do my cardio and Part 2. Now I know why I like doing my cardio first, especially on leg day. My legs were so tired from the first workout  that I really just wanted to go home and rest and call it a day. Then I realized that was my old way of thinking and  I knew I had to push through this rough part and still get my cardio in, at least 1 hours worth. I didn’t want to be a quitter so I went up stairs and started  Part 2 which consisted of:

  • 35 minutes of Elliptical Trainer @ 1.80 miles, Level 18
  • 25 minutes of Treadmill @ 1.75 miles, 5-7% incline

I forgot my book and pen to record everything so I don’t have all the statistics for this work out.

I did though workout for 1 hour and burned 1083 calories.

Total with both workouts = 1935 calories burned. :-)

Not to bad for a days work. My eating was also on track as well and I am hoping for a good weight loss come Monday morning. I would post what I ate today but I am again running  abit behind today.

I just wanted to check in with you all and hoping also that your’re having a healthy and fit week-end.

Catch you all later.. Again also thanks  for your awesome support.

  • I’ve been a bit lazy in the cardio department lately, but have just entered a 5K, so I’d better get moving again, even if I will only be walking it. I haven’t walked more than a mile for a long time…

Well done on another great workout!

    • Congrats on the 5K Race. I did the same same too and that will keep us both motivated to push ourselves more with the cardio. I know you can do this. :-)

  • Committment and discipline win again! So glad to hear about your continued success!

    • Yes, it did! When I wanted to quit and just go home I thought about something you said during our last evaluation. Of course I can’t remammber it word for word but it had to do about pushing yourself a bit more past your comfort zone. I wasn’t in pain today so I knew it was all in my head so I need to work through the tough part and continue on. It might have not my best workout, but I did accomplish something other than 1 hour of cardio.
Thanks for everything Paul. I have accomplished more working with you and Chris than I have ever done with any other trainer.

  • Great workout. Good job pushing through when it was tough!

    • My body didn’t like that and was fighting all the way, but I won that battle today :-) It was so hard though but when I do overcome that thinking of wanting to quit and I don’t it’s such a great accomplishment for me. I’m slowly but surely winning at this and I feel good about it. For me it’s about time! :-)

  • Rob – You are ever-amazing! Keep some balance in your life (to me that means pool time :) )

    • That is another thing I do have to learn to do better. I do miss the pool and to be honest after my workouts I should just jump into it as a refreshing way to end a great workout. It just seems like I am always pressed for time and running late. Maybe I’ll try to get a few minutes in after Sundays workout. Thanks for the reminder… :-)

  • Sometimes working through the old way of thinking is the toughest workout we have. I have been struggling with that myself lately.

    Sounds like an awesome workout!

    • That I have to agree with 100%. It can be hard at times working through that old way of thinking. I am trying hard to make that part of my lifestyle change as well. Getting rid of old thoughts and behavior can be a real challenge. You are making changes as well so keep working at it and progress will continue to be made. Keep up the great work… I’ve learned that it takes time.
